Riding Clubs are very important for the BHS in Kent and we would like to support them more in 2014. Here is some news from one of them:
Sevenoaks Riding Club notched up its 65th anniversary in 2013. Founded in 1948, the club provides competitions, training and friendship for nearly two hundred horse owners and riders in the Sevenoaks area.
Each summer, the club holds a variety of dressage, show jumping and cross-country competitions for members and non-members, together with training clinics and events designed for the less competitive rider.
New this year were a cross-country ‘Clear Round’ event and BHS TREC competition. Each September, the season is rounded off with the Annual Show, which provides a wide range of traditional showing and show jumping classes, together with gymkhana and Handy Pony classes for children.
The club is affiliated to British Riding Clubs, and sends many teams to area and national championships. This year, the Junior Horse Trials team of Rohan Cadney-Moon, Pippa Moon, Charlotte Payne and Anna Hollis came third at BRC’s National Horse Trials Championship at Swalcliffe Park, Oxfordshire. At the National Championship held at Lincoln in early September, Emma Whittington came first in her arena in the Senior Riding Test, with a massive score of 81.29%.
