Exciting news for local riders this week with the official opening of an upgrade of a public footpath to bridleway status leading from Fartherwell Road, West Malling to Church Road, Offham. This upgrade has been possible thanks to landowner Stephen Betts of Laurence J Betts Limited and grants from the British Horse Society Paths for Communities fund, the BHS North & West Kent Committee and Kent and Medway Bridleways Improvement Trust (KaMBIT) and the hard work of Kent County Council Public Rights of Way team.
Kent equestrians have just 16.6% of the rights of way network compared with a national average of just 22% so this stretch of new bridleway will be welcomed by local horse riders.
Our grateful thanks to Mr Betts, KCC PROW and the tireless work of BHS Access volunteers in working to protect and enhance the rights of way network in the county.
