BHS Bedfordshire held their fifth Sponsored Ride in aid of East Anglian Air Ambulance and The British Horse Society in the autumn sunshine at the spectacular Southill Park estate. 188 riders entered and over £8,000 was raised for these two great charities.
Heather Wright, aged 11 (pictured [with Ann Kennedy, BHS, and Kay Marter, EAAA]) raised a fabulous £183.75 by riding Paddy around the five mile route on lead rein with Mum on foot. Not only that the trio had hacked three and a half miles to the venue and still had to face the hack home – a total of 12 miles. Well done Mum!! But to organiser, Ann Kennedy, the fundraising is not the only reward – she also loves the looks of enjoyment on the faces of riders and many thank you messages such as this one from Heather Stopher: “I would like to say Thank you to each and every one of the people involved in making my ride round Southill Park so exceptional today. Thank you for giving up your Sunday so that I could enjoy the time with my wonderful horse in such a stunning setting. It really did not hurt that God had laid on such beautiful sunshine in which to bathe us all in either. Magic stuff and thank you one and all for a simply magical day.”
