The British Horse Society Cambridgeshire hosted a gift auction on Saturday 2 August to raise money and awareness for the Equine Grass Sickness Fund and The British Horse Society.
Grass sickness is a devastating equine disease. Prevalent throughout the British Isles, it's fatal in both its acute and subacute forms and extremely distressing.
Along with the Equine Grass Sickness Fund and the Animal Health Trust, The British Horse Society is supporting an EGS vaccine trial was launched in March 2014. The campaign is helping to provide valuable additional funding for the full three-year EGS vaccine trial project and events such as the gift auction can help make all the difference.
With fantastic lots to bid on such as the hire of Wareley cross country course, a 12 week online exercise programme for riders, a day's free grassland maintenance and wonderful beauty treatments, the auction was bound to be a success! This was apparent in the final total, which raised £1,188!
A huge thank-you must go to the following people who helped make the event such a success: The White Horse Inn in Barton for allowing us the use of their venue and for providing the lovely food, to everyone who contributed a lot for the auction, our Auctioneer who did a fantastic job! Also, to Natalie, our children's face painter who made all the children very happy and finally, to everyone who came along and supported the event and especially those who bid on the lots - you were amazing!
Thank you for making this event a great success; we hope you all enjoyed yourselves.
