Leicestershire and Rutland Bridleways Association organised a starter ride to be held during Access Week. This ride was targetted towards lead rein riders and adults who required a confidence boost.
The ride was held on 28th May at Hicks Lodge Cycle Centre which is located in the heart of the New National Forest near Moira, Leicestershire.
There was a choice of two short routes. One around Hicks Lodge Lake and the other around Shellbrook woods which has been newly opened, by kind permission from The Forestry Commission.
Four lead rein riders who were led by their mums and four adult riders enjoyed their outing. Due to limited available parking the entries were sadly limited for this ride.
Leicestershire and Rutland Bridleways Association are currently working to extend the access and connectivity of bridleways in the National Forest by negotiating with The Forestry Commission and The National Forest
Company. This will hopefully lead to more and improved future rides.
