Celebrations were in order as the official opening of the Lindsey Trail multi user route in North Lincolnshire, finally took place on 16 June after being postponed in April due to the wet weather.
Edward Leigh MP for Gainsborough, cut the red ribbon and riders, carriage drivers, cyclists and walkers set off to explore this fantastic 69 mile circular trail through the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The trail runs through this area of outstanding natural beauty, and is one of the first routes in the country which is suitable for carriage drivers as well as riders. Extending from Willingham Woods in the north to Horncastle in the south, there are a series of loops along its length for those not wanting to tackle the whole trail at once.
The British Horse Society, The British Driving Society, East Lindsey District Council, Lindum Endurance Horse Society and Lincolnshire County Council have all contributed funding and expertise to the project and in doing so have provided an outstanding asset for the county for years to come.
