Evening talks

1 May 2012

During the darker evenings of winter and spring we held a series of veterinary talks and lectures at Brooksby College.

Topics covered Farriery, delivered by Stephen Hill, AWCF, Equestrian First Aid, Colic and Laminitis Management, all delivered by Jane Gaul from Chine House Veterinary Hospital, giving an insight into ways of managing and avoiding these conditions and the latest updates in these specialist areas.

The talks proved extremely popular with attendances of around 40 people for each lecture and it is planned to hold more this coming winter.

For the rider there were a series of rider fitness workshops presented by fitness instructor Sue Story who is also a BHSPT. Incorporating Yoga and Pilates these workshops focussed on supple and strength exercises to increase core muscle stability, strength, flexibility and balance including the use of a gymball and pilates stretch bands. The regular attendees certainly felt the benefits!
