Equine Veterinary Physiotherapist Talk at Nottingham Trent University

3 Mar 2014

Categories:

Veterinary physiotherapist Samantha Bobyn MSc came to Nottingham Trent University talk to BHS members about how to incorporate physiotherpy into their everyday riding.

The session was incredibly informative and covered the different types and benefits of body workers.  She also provided practical massage techniques that owners themselves can use to keep their horses supple.

An interesting practical exercise involved us trying to identify objects hidden in envelopes using pure feel and illustrated just how sensitive the fingers are and how owners can find tiny irregularities under their horse’s skin.

The benefits of pole work were also covered in detail and everyone came away with lots of ideas and exercises to put into practice.

The session was extremely interesting and thought provoking and all that attended came away enlightened. It is hoped that more sessions will be planned throughout the year.
