Axholme Bridleways Association had a great turnout by its members for their Tidy Bridleways day on 8 March 2014.
The area we concentrated on was the Old Railway Line between Rocket Lane area Haxey and Low Burnham Beck. This area was chosen as it had been highlighted by ABA members at the previous meeting that it was in need of some tidying and general clearing to make the track more accessible to all users.
We had two teams of volunteers starting at either end chopping and clearing the path. The walk through boxes were trimmed out so it is now clearer for the horses and walkers to see where the edges are to step in and out of easily.
The weather was good and we met a few track users along the way who we gave leaflets out to so they knew who we were and our contact details in case they wanted to get involved in the future. We met midway for lunch and Easter Buns.
We achieved what we set out to and a very successful day. We hope to have more tidy days to help clear some more bridleways in the area to make them better for all users.
