Proprietors: Worried About Business Rates?

Busy yardThe BHS has recently seen a surge in questions about business rates for equestrian properties. There are particular concerns over disparities in how equestrian businesses are rated compared with other types, particularly land-based colleges.

As a result of this, the BHS has collated and sent the views of Approved Centres to the HM Treasury Rates Consultation for consideration.

We’ve also produced a member briefing document, telling you all you need to know about how and why your business may be affected and what to do if so.

If you have concerns over how equestrian properties are being rated in your area, we urge you to tell your MP about them now. Find your MP’s contact details and email them at writetothem.com. If you’re a BHS Approved Centre Proprietor, you’ll find a template letter sent with the recent member briefing.

Haven’t received your member briefing or MP letter template?

The member briefing and MP letter template have recently been posted out to all BHS Approved Centres. If you haven’t received yours, get in touch with the Approvals team and we’ll be happy to email you the documents.
