The BHS has congratulated Cheryl Huggins for winning our top prize of £2,000 in the Castration Appeal prize draw run during 2015.
Cheryl has been a BHS gold member for 15 years and became a member when she rehomed a BHS rescue pony Echo. She looked after Echo for 13 years until she sadly passed away.
She currently has four horses and two goats, and hopes to spend her prize money on a new trailer so that she can take her horses out hacking in new and more exciting places.
Cheryl visited BHS headquarters today accompanied by her mother and was awarded her prize by Claire Aldridge, BHS Chairman.
The British Horse Society has been working alongside other organisations such as Redwings, the Blue Cross, the RSPCA, World Horse Welfare, the Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies and HorseWorld to deliver castration clinics throughout the United Kingdom. BEVA and Zoetis have also generously supported the campaign. It is hoped that by the end of 2015, 200 colts and stallions will have been castrated, preventing hundreds of unwanted foals.
A huge 'thank you' from everyone at the BHS to all who bought draw tickets and have donated to the appeal so far. Without your vital support, we wouldn't be able to deliver our 2015-2016 programme of castration clinics. Find out more about how this can help tackle the UK equine crisis on our appeal page, and how to donate quickly and securely now.
