3156 Mounted Section Groom
Mounted section, Highnam Court, Gloucester
Salary/Scale 2; £16,755 to £17,544 (pro-rata)
Part-time, 25 hours per week; to include some pre-planned evening, weekend and public and bank holiday working. Specific hours of work can be negotiated at interview but will be required to meet the needs of the service
Following the recent success of a mounted capability trial in the county, Gloucestershire Constabulary are now looking to recruit a part-time experienced Groom on a permanent basis.
Applicants should be experienced, self-motivated and competent, holding a minimum qualification of British Horse Society (BHS) stage 3 Groom, an equivalent qualification, or practical experience and be able to provide a high standard of equestrian services including, but not limited to; grooming, exercising (riding and lunging) and preparing horses and equipment for patrol duties to enable the mounted section to achieve its operational policing objectives.
Initially the hours of work will predominantly be during weekday mornings, with occasional weekend and evening duties agreed with prior arrangement. There is no accommodation or horse livery available with this post, however, continuous professional development and training will be provided, encouraged and supported.
