Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate Course (EHKC) - Entry Level with Jennie Candy BHSAI Accredited Professional.
Are you a first-time horse owner or carer, parents of horse owners, potential horse owners or anyone else just interested in the care and welfare of horses? Then this is the course for you!
The Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate (which replaces the Horse Owners Certificates) is a BHS Accredited 'classroom' based certificate that will teach you the principles of caring for horses. No practical or ridden work or experience is necessary to take part, but we do like to include some lively practical sessions. It is very sociable and relaxed. Tea, coffee and cakes/biscuits will be provided and in the WARMTH of a lovely heated cafe at the yard.
This certificate is held at two levels: Entry Level and Level One and is suitable for learners of all ages, including parents of horse riders and owners. However, we recommend a minimum age of 12 years. You can enter at either level, although if you are new to horses or have limited background knowledge we recommend you start at Entry Level.
The assessment of this qualification will be through a written assessment via exam papers produced directly by the BHS. On achievement of the qualification, all certificates will be sent to the instructor, who will forward them on to candidates.
This is the Entry Level Course (first level) and will run every Monday (11am - 1pm) for eight weeks, starting on Monday 10 September, with a break on Monday 22 October for half term, finishing on Monday 05 November, with an exam to be taken on Monday 12 November at 11am.
Cost: £160 for the eight weeks plus an exam fee (£20 for BHS members and £30 for others).
