An Introduction to the Classical Seat with Sylvia Loch

An enthralling lecture / demonstration to help ALL riders of whatever discipline. Programme will include On The Seat, The Reins, Bend and Lateral Work, plus a Demo from Sylvia on her Lusitano stallion Prazer, followed by a Schoolmaster Lesson for one lucky Volunteer rider!!* Sylvia is an internationally-renowned dressage expert and author of 'The Balanced Horse' and 'The Classical Rider.'

Programme: 

  • On the Seat - rider at roughly Prelim-Novice Level and concentrating on General Position, Correct Use of Legs for the different Aids; also  position of Rider's Head and Neck.
  • The Reins -  Helping the Novice  Rider to understand the rein effects, direct and indirect rein; flexion and putting the Horse on the Bit; The Importance of the Outside Rein; Inside Leg to Outside Hand.
  • Bend and Lateral Work - helping the Novice - Elementary rider how to teach the horse to move away from the leg, into the leg, bending. Introducing shoulder-in. If time allows, fail safe Canter transitions Demo from Sylvia on her Lusitano stallion Prazer, followed by a Schoolmaster Lesson for one lucky Volunteer rider!!*
