CPD Sitting for Success with Carole Broad FBHS

Open to all. This day counts as CPD for BHS Registered Instructors and also contributes ten hours of teaching time to those completing their PTT logbooks.

Programme

9.30am - Registration and tea/coffee.

10.00am - An introduction to assessing the rider’s posture before riding. Unmounted assessment of rider physique and anatomy.

10.30am - Looking at the static rider- mounted - what does this tell us?

10.45am - Lungeing the rider - Assessing the rider’s position. How does the posture and shape of the rider, the build of the horse and the type of saddle used affect their balance and position?

11.15am - Riding on the flat – Stage 2 (GP saddles). How does the position of the rider, the build and way of going of the horse and the type of saddle used affect the riding ability?

12.30pm - Riding on the flat – Stage 3 (dressage saddles). How does the position of the rider, the build and way of going of the horse and the type of saddle used affect the riding ability?

1.15pm - Lunch.

2.00pm - Riding in jump position - poles. How does the posture and position of the rider, the shape of the horse and the type of saddle used affect balance and security?

2.45pm - Riding over fences - grid. How does the posture and position of the rider, the shape of the horse and the type of saddle used affect the balance and security of the rider?

3.30pm - Conclusion and questions.

4.00pm - Finish.
