Riding Professionally

A professional rider is possibly the best kind of horse job you could have: being paid to ride all day!

Responsibilities include:

• A high degree of riding ability
• Having expert knowledge of competition rules for the discipline/s you want to specialise in
• Travelling to and from shows and competitions - and preferably winning!
• Liaising with horse owners and trainers.

Necessary qualifications/experience

Riders will be required to demonstrate their level of riding ability and the level of disciplines that they have excelled in.

Preferred qualifications/experience

BHS riding qualifications up to Senior Equitation Level are preferable. BHS care qualifications up to Stage 4 will also be useful.

Personal specification

Professional riders need to be flexible, hardworking and able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and maturity. You may be self-employed so book-keeping (accounting) knowledge will be useful.
