The Awarding Body for Equestrian Activity

Equestrian Qualifications GB Limited (EQL) is a subsidiary company of the British Horse Society but stands alone in its remit to award equestrian qualifications to the same exacting standards as the former Awarding Body of the British Horse Society. Apart from the new Awarding Body name, all systems, procedures, quality assurance – and the staff from the BHS Examinations Department – remain the same.

EQL is an Awarding Body accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and as such must comply with a range of criteria, including robust quality assurance for developing and awarding qualifications.

The British Horse Society has re-branded its qualifications under the new Awarding Body name. You will notice, for instance that the pre-fix for the Awarding Body has changed from BHS to EQL and the certificates that we award are pre-fixed with EQL. The BHS logo will still appear on the certificates but it will not be as prominent as before. In effect, EQL is awarding the qualifications on behalf of the British Horse Society.

EQL also awards the (UKCC Endorsed) Coaching Certificates on behalf of the British Equestrian Federation. We will continue to award Scottish and National Vocational Qualifications.
The name change and re-brand will provide a clear division between BHS and the Awarding Body.

All certificates awarded in the name of the British Horse Society are exactly the same as the certificates awarded under EQL. They are assessed and awarded in exactly the same way and will still carry the same level of recognition, both nationally and internationally. There is no difference whatsoever, other than the change of Awarding Body name.

• The Fellowship of the British Horse Society
  
  
• EQL British Horse Society Riding & Road Safety Certificate
  
  
• EQL British Horse Society Assistant Ride Leaders in Equestrian Tourism

• The BHS will continue to award the non vocational Horse Owners Certificates – Levels 1 – 4.
