BSPS - BHS Qualifications

In 2004 The British Horse Society was approached by The British Show Pony Society to work together to produce a suite of qualifications that would be relevant to those working in the showing industry to ensure correct methodology and techniques were employed to produce ponies and horses for the showing ring. Penny Hollings from the BSPS worked long and hard to produce the three levels of qualification: The Show Groom, the Assistant Trainer and The Accredited Trainer. Alongside these qualifications there is also the opportunity for showing yards to become part of the internationally recognised BHS Approval Scheme.

Currently exams are held twice a year; in the Spring and Autumn. Successful candidates are those who are practical, show sound methods of working and empathy with horses.
