The British Horse Society organises a vast variety of riding competitions and equestrian fundraising events for members and non-members to enjoy with their horse or pony:
BHS TREC: BHS TREC is a unique equine sport for all levels of rider, involving a challenging mixture of orienteering and cross country riding. The British Horse Society brought TREC to the UK from France and it is growing rapidly in popularity.
The BHS Cross Country: This cross country series gives grassroots competitors the chance to qualify for prestigious National Championships.
The BHS Equitation Competition: One of The British Horse Society’s riding competitions, this event gives young riders who do not own a horse or pony the chance to compete in their own national final.
BHS County and Regional committees arrange activities, including riding competitions, throughout the UK and Ireland for members and riders on a local level.
The BHS-owned Royal International Horse Show is one of the most famous outdoor shows in Britain. It takes place at Hickstead, East Sussex, and many internationally renowned riders and horses can been seen competing there.
Challenge Rides help to raise funds for BHS Welfare, to assist in its aim of preventing neglect through education. These Challenge Rides have taken adventurous fund-raisers to Peru, Iceland, Mongolia and Jordan. A full set of Challenge Rides are currently available.
All these events complement those run nationally by BHS-affiliated British Riding Clubs.
There are many different sports and activities involving your horse or pony. If you would like more information on the different sports with horses, have a look at our Sports Directory.
