The Equitation Competition is run by the BHS to offer young non-horse owners throughout the UK the opportunity to compete, win prizes and qualify for a grand final. The competition consists of a dressage test, show jumping course and a set of equine related general knowledge questions.
The two age groups are:
13 Years and Under 17 Years and Under
There will be regional qualifiers held at BHS approved centres across the UK and riding school clients from surrounding licenced riding establishments are welcome to compete. The qualifying competitions are organised by individual centres supported by the Approvals Department who carry out the administration.
The competition is being generously sponsored by the equine clothing company Puffa and Trot on Club. Trot on Club is an exciting, fun, educational activity for Pony Mad Kids, both in reality at pony events throughout the UK where TOC representatives are present, to which all TOC kids and their families are welcome, and online at the Trot on Club website which will launch at the end of October. Online, children can learn through play how to care for a pony using The Stable, The Grooming Bay, The Tie-up Ring, The Feed Room and The Horsebox.
Systematic weekly learning topics, multi-choice questions, interactive games, video clips, quizzes and competitions all re-enforcing schoolwork, Key Stages 1 and 2 English, Math, Science, ICT skills and interactive Chat are available. TOC online is up-dated weekly and full of fun and games, where children can also interact with like-minded friends.
It’s fun for children to learn about ponies and how to care for them, helping a child to become confident and their pony time to be a pleasure, ensuring a better quality of life and welfare for ponies in the future.
TOC is a truly “Clip Cloppin” experience for every Pony Mad Child. www.trotonclub.co.uk
Puffa are providing prizes for winning competitors and their instructors at the final at Warwickshire College. Other prizes include training vouchers up to sixth place, plus rosettes and prizes for the winners of each age group at the regional qualifiers. The first and second placed competitors of both age groups from every qualifier will go through to the final at Warwickshire College on 28 May 2008.
