Register of Instructors
The Register has been published to benefit both Instructors and the public.

Qualified Instructors can join the Register at any time during the year and obtain a full 12 months registration.

All our Registered Instructors are BHS Qualified Instructors as stated and have professionally been trained to provide safe instruction for a risk activity. They are covered by Public Liability Insurance (may not apply for instructors on the category B and Overseas, please see below) and have signed a Code Of Conduct.

They hold either a current Health and Safety First Aid at Work or BHS Equine Specific First Aid Certificate and also a Child Protection Certificate. We believe that current topical awareness and good practice is the key to good instruction and offers a better service to our public, all our Instructors attend regular training session.

There are three membership categories.

Category A - Which includes Public Liability Insurance Cover.
The British Horse Society is an appointed representative of South Essex Insurance Brokers who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Category B – Which does not provide any insurance cover. However, these instructors are recommended to arrange Insurance Cover independently. We recommend you to confirm this with the individual instructor. Category B Instructors will be pre-fixed on the website by an *.

Overseas Category – Instructors who are resident overseas are listed under this category, which does not provide insurance cover. These Instructors are required to hold an equivalent First Aid at Work Certificate. However, not all overseas instructors will hold a Child Protection Awareness Certificate or have attended a ‘refresher’ training course.
